The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) is a U.S. federal agency dedicated to promoting the economic and social well-being of children, families, and communities through programs, funding, and support services. The ACF is a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that focuses on improving the lives of children, youth, families, and vulnerable populations. It was established on April 15, 1991, through the merger of the Office of Human Development Services, the Family Support Administration, and the Maternal and Child Health Block Grant Program. ACF’s mission is to ensure that families and communities are resilient, safe, healthy, and economically secure.
